Organized events where we guide and assist you by providing leaders. Most are caravan-type operations. The Mexico Adventure Tours are designed to give people a guided introduction to safe, comfortable and enjoyable travel in that marvelous country in a small group.

At the end of the Adventure Tour you will have met warm, hospitable people and seen magnificent sights; enjoyed marvelous beaches; and will know that you can now do it alone – safely, comfortably and enjoyably – or you can form your own travel group through notices in the Chubasco and enjoy compatible company – or take other Adventure Tours with leaders you will get to know.

Keep in mind that we are always looking for leaders who like people, don’t get ruffled when glitches arise, leading – and either have experience leading caravans elsewhere or have traveled in the area involved. If you have led caravans in the area we are going to, you will really be welcomed as a leader!

Note: Passports are required for Baja, Mainland Mexico, and Central American countries. It can take several weeks to get a new one or renew an old one, make sure you get your passports squared away well before the trip date.

Upcoming Caravans

Baja Explorer – October 2026

Hola Amigos!!
I am excited to announce that we are returning to Baja Mexico with a fun filled caravan! The Vagabundos del Mar have been leading caravans into Baja and Mexico for sixty years! The Vagabundos pioneered Baja travel and know a thing or two about how to have fun and enhance your adventurous spirit. We will be exploring and having fun safely traveling through Baja from October 31-November 20, 2026.

Our Baja Explorer 60 Year Anniversary Caravan is slated to gather together at Potrero, a San Diego County Park near Tecate on October 31, 2026, and return to the USA on November 20, 2026, via Mexicali.

A more detailed itinerary is forthcoming. This caravan will be limited to only eight rigs and all must be self-contained as some of our stops offer no services. Dogs and kids are welcome. The cost will be very affordable as we will pay as we go; each camper will cover their payment of each campsite and activity.

If interested, contact the Vagabundos office at (707) 374 5511 and secure your spot on the list. You can also contact me directly by email at captpop70@hotmail.com if you have questions. The final cost is $250.00 per rig which covers some of the Wagon Masters expenses and other expenses.  A $25.00 non-refundable deposit secures your spot. This itinerary is time tested. I have personally made this trip many times, always fun, beach camping, exploring, great food (I know some great taco stands) and making new friends.

Whale Watching/Wine Tasting Caravan – February 2027 (Dates to be Determined)

Mark and Faith Martinez will be leading our whale watching/wine tasting trip in mid-February 2027. They have been whale watching many times and have thoroughly enjoyed the time with the whales.

Start off by wine tasting in the Guadalupe Valley, then head south to the lagoon for dry camping at Ojo de Liebre outside of Guerrero Negro for three nights. They will then spend five to six days working their way back north with stops in Bay of Los Angeles and the San Felipe area. Plan on the trip to be approximately 12 – 14 days.

If you want to continue to go south, on your own, from Guerrero Negro, there are many places to explore (we encourage this and we got you this far).

The cost will be $350 per rig for two people and will include one group meal ($100 per additional person in rig), and you will be responsible for your own wine tasting, camping spots and whale watching costs.

This trip is limited to seven rigs. Deposits and sign-up by September 15 to ensure camping and wine tasting reservations. This trip will be approximately 1200 miles round trip in Mexico and keep in mind the gas/diesel prices are about the sames as in California.

Please feel free to call the office (707-3874-5511) and they will forward your contact information to Mark for any questions or concerns you might have.
