Baja Direct 2021

October 28 - November 10, 2021

The dates of the Baja Direct caravan has been pushed back in hopes of cooler weather. The temps in Baja can stay rather warm thru Thanksgiving. As we plan on a few nights dry camping (no power hook ups) on the beach a few nights, hopes of cooler nights is what we desire. The campsites that will be dry camping is noted.

October 28. Day 1: We will gather in El Centro California at the Desert Trails RV Resort. In the evening we will get together and go over a few items. Driving in Baja, rules of the road and just a discussion to get to know each other. Mexican Pesos can be easily obtained by a short drive to Calexico where there are numerous places that exchange money.

Day 2: Off to the Mexicali East Port of Entry. FMM will be processed and after clearing Mexican Customs, on the road to San Felipe. In San Felipe we will stop at a supermarket and stock up. After topping off our fuel tanks it off to Rancho Grande in the Gonzaga Bay area. Here we will dry camp on the shore of the Sea of Cortez.

Day 3: Off to the Guerrero Negro area where we will spend one night.

Day 4: We will travel south and visit the sights in San Ignacio, Santa Rosalia and arriving at our destination of Mulege'.

Day 5, 6, 7: Arrive in Loreto for the next 3 nights. While in Loreto we will spend a day visiting the Mission San Javier, a working goat farm and hopefully have an authentic Mexican lunch with a local rancher and family where we can make our own tortillas. Loreto is a beautiful small town where just about everything is in walking distance. It is also bicycle friendly for those who bring bicycles.

Day 8, 9: Headed north we will arrive at Santispac where we will dry camp on the beach for two nights. This area is one of the most beautiful beaches in Baja. There are services nearby in Mulege'.

Day 10: Continuing north we will arrive in San Ignacio for the night.

Day 11, 12: We will travel towards the beautiful Bahia de Los Angeles area where we will stay at Daggetts RV for two nights. Free to explore the area or charter a local panga for world class fishing or sight seeing the islands off shore.

Day 13: Headed towards home we will camp on the beach just north of San Felipe at Pete's Camp, RV Resort.

Day 14: Best to get an early start to head to the border as the wait times can very. Once back in the US, we will say good bye and head home, looking forward to the next adventure!!
