Idaho Mini Tour
July 26-August 10, 2010 & 2011
This will be something new, by very experienced leaders. There will be hot springs, white water, and more.
Schedule:
July 26. Optional. Arrive early and raft, tube-float or kayak the Boise River with tour leaders (tubes and rafts are available for rent).
July 27. Rendezvous in Boise, ID at Hi Valley RV Park. Optional: Idaho Shakespeare Festival, "The Importance of Being Earnest"

July 28. Free day to tour Boise on your own. (Note: I have three legal-size pages of things to do in Boise, depending on interests). Welcome to Idaho dinner at Jerry’s State Court Cafe.
July 29. Drive to Challis and stay at Challis Hot Springs RV Park. Soak in the hot springs at the RV Park.
July 30-August 2. Optional excursions in the Challis area: Various hot springs; leisurely (class 1 or 1-2) kayaking; raft The River of No Return, fishing, tour ghost towns, Stanley Music Festival, hike in the Sawtooth Mountains. We will organize any of these activities.
August 3. Drive to Garden Valley to stay at the Starlight Mountain Theatre RV Park. This evening we will dine with the theatre cast; then attend a musical play.
August 4. Garden Valley – Half-day whitewater raft trip on the Payette River.
August 5. Garden Valley – Silver Creek Plunge hot springs and picnic.
August 6. Drive to Cascade, stay at Water’s Edge RV Resort, visit Gold Fork Hot Springs, mountain bike at Tamarack Resort, fish at Warm Lake or kayak the Payette River or Cascade Lake.
August 7. Cascade – carpool to Yellow Pine Harmonica Festival. Yellow Pine, a community of fewer than 40 permanent residents in the Frank Church Wilderness Area, has hosted an International Harmonica Festival for many years. People come from around the world for this annual event.
August 8. Cascade – Thunder Mountain Train tour through the beautiful Payette River canyon.
August 9. Drive to McCall, stay at McCall RV Resort, afternoon Smokejumper Base tour.
August 10. McCall – Free day to explore McCall, end of the tour pot luck supper. Things to do in McCall: golf, all types of water sports, mountain biking or hiking, indoor ice skating, trail rides, hot springs, Hells Canyon is nearby.
August 11- 13. Tour leaders will stay in McCall to help organize optional excursions such as the following: Burgdorf Hot Springs, Zims Hot Springs, fishing, water activities on Payette Lake, leisurely kayaking the Payette River, mountain biking.
From McCall people can easily continue their travels north to Coeur d’Alene, ID, Montana (such as Glacier National Park), Canada (Banff and Jasper National Parks, etc.) or Washington (such as the wine area around Yakima); or they can go west to the Oregon coast; or east to Yellowstone; or south back to Boise, which is about 95 miles south of McCall.
